Colombian Language

The Castilian (Spanish) is the official language of the Republic of Colombia and with the exception of some indigenous tribes, all Colombians speak it. It is interesting to note that the Castilian of Colombia is considered one of the best spoken world Castellanos, his accent is quite neutral.

According to some research there are 11 dialects of Spanish in Colombia, namely:

Mountain Dialects
* Spanish Antioquia (paisa)
* Spanish Bogota (rolo)
* Spanish Cundiboyacense
* Andean Spanish (pastuso or serrano)

Dialects of the lowlands
* Spanish coastal
* Spanish Plains
* Spanish Pacific (Choco)
* Spanish island
* Spanish vallecaucano
* Spanish Santander
* Spanish Tolima (ITPO)

There are approximately 75 indigenous languages are still preserved, although the number tends to be diminishing.

Although education in schools include English in the curriculum, English language remains a few Colombians speak.
