When To Go Festivals

The dry season is the most pleasant time to visit the country, but nothing prevents you from traveling during the rainy season. Transportation and hotels tend to be busiest from late December to mid-January, when most Colombians on vacation.

The calendar is punctuated by numerous festivals, carnivals and events. Among the most important, retain the Carnival Blancos y Negros (Pasto, January), Semana Santa (procession of Holy Week, March or April, the most beautiful celebrations take place in Popayan and Mompos), the Feria de la Flores (Medellin, August) and Reinado del Coco (San Andres, November).

New Year (January 1) Good Friday, Labor Day (May 1st), Ascension, Sacred Heart (June 26) Independence Day (July 20), Battle of Boyaca (August 7), Assumption, Independence of Cartagena (November 11), Immaculate Conception (December 8), Christmas (December 25).
