Sex Tourism is Just one Side of the Exploitation of Children In Bogota
No denuncias Taxistas, buttons and street vendors are commissioned to guide clients to their victims. But the owners of residences and seedy hotels in the chain are key because they provide a discreet setting for the offense. So the new law provides for forfeiture sites where prostitutes are minors.
While some clients may pay up to $ 200 billion for such services, children are getting only the crumbs: they are paid with food or even with drugs.
Sex tourism is just one side of the exploitation of children, a drama that live in the country between 25 thousand and 30 thousand children, according to figures from UNICEF and the Office. Radiography is terrifying. On average, children in prostitution in that world began at age 9, but there are dozens of reported cases in which age of onset was less than half. The state, meanwhile, seems powerless. The Colombian Family Welfare Institute, so far during 2009, has received 206 complaints of prostitution, pornography and child sex tourism. The figure in 2008 ended in 500 cases.
The statistics are even more discouraging prosecution. In 2006, for example, there were fewer than 50 complaints of sexual exploitation and child pornography.
